This is the beginning of the first chapter of a longer story. As you can see from the title page up there, I drew this first chapter over the course of two days. It should take longer than that to draw 25 pages, but I was working quickly. Let me explain why.

When I found a 25 page 4” x 6” sketchbook at the art supply store, I thought it would be perfect for drawing a tiny little comic book. I cleared off the dining room table, sat down, and went to work. The idea was to draw quickly without overthinking things, so I drew everything in ink with no penciling. The exercise was about spontaneity, about putting a line down and committing to it whether or not it looked good, and about avoiding things that are hard to draw.

The process was much like that of making a 24-hour comic, only over the course of 12 hours, split over two days.

All of which is to say, yes, the art in this story can be sloppy, but hopefully the overall exuberance makes up for that shortcoming.
